MEET THE NEXT YOUNG PHENOM FOUNDATION, INC. BOARD of DIRECTORS

 

Robert C. Gavin, is a Program/Project Manager with HP (Hewlett-Packard), residing in Spencerport, New York, . He has over 20 years career experience as a results oriented client relationship professional with a focus on partnership, service delivery, tactical and strategic business development. His broad leadership experience also includes program/project management and operational delivery.  Mr. Gavin’s current assignment involves transitioning the datacenter of a client from Vitoria to Sau Paulo, Brazil.

Robert is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation Certified and a Six Sigma Yellow Belt. He obtained an AAS degree in Mechanical Technology and attended Rochester Institute of Technology earning a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

His previous professional leadership experience includes: Integration Program Manager for a global deployment operation, Certification Tower Lead for a Data Center Transition Program, Senior Project Manager for an Information Operations Center and Technical Delivery Team Manager for a Global Desktop Management Systems group.

Mr. Gavin has always exercised his passion for people, community and improving the workforce. Most notably, he serves as a Board of Trustee Member and former Director of Mens’ Ministry at Faith Temple Church, Member of the Board of Directors at Baden Street Settlement of Rochester and Chairperson for the Morgan Executive Board (a family operated organization).

With a strong desire to give back to the community Mr. Gavin has delivered positive messages to kids in classrooms throughout the city of Rochester, New York and is currently in his fourth year as a HP Mentor partnered with Monroe High School.  He has also served on or lead several corporate initiatives including:  Lead Diversity Ambassador, East Region Diversity Council and Regional Ambassador for Unity in Action (UIA).  Mr. Gavin is also the National Corporate Sales Director at BDPA (Black Data Processing Association), a not-for-profit organization and serves on several committees as an Alumni member with ITSMF (Information Technology Senior Management Forum).

Throughout his career, Robert has received several customer customer, peer and achievement awards.  One of his most significant  accomplishments is receiving a United States Patent for the design of a Temperature Sensing Element.

Dr. Barbara Baggerly-Hinojosa is a wife, mother and educator living in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.  She holds a Master of Education in Supervision from The University of Texas Pan American.  She recently completed a PhD program at Our Lady of the Lake University – San Antonio, Texas.  Her dissertation  featured research on the relationship between the high school principal leadership and the high school student dropout rate. Dr. Hinojosa is a former Principal and Migrant Coordinator in Mercedes, Texas. Currently, she is the Santa Maria Migrant Coordinator.

She serves as Adjunct Professor in Leadership Studies in the School of Business at Our Lady of the Lake  in San Antonio, TX. She is also an International Business Translator and the author of Are you a 10? The Ten Characteristics of Servant Leadership.

Dr. Hinojosa conducts leadership training seminars and coaching in business, education, healthcare, and government industries through her company, Leadership Empowerment Group, LLC.  In addition to the training seminars, Dr. Hinojosa is a guest writer for The Mercedes Enterprise newspaper.

She mentors young women in her community and has been featured at several workshops, book signing and conferences nation wide.

 

Dr. Melvin T. Jones is the Senior Pastor of Union Missionary Baptist Church in Lansing, MI.  A well respected community activist often called upon community spokesperson, Dr. Jones has  served as the Chairman of the Human Relations Department for the City of Lansing; President of the Michigan Baptist State Convention, Inc. President of the Pastor’s Conference of Greater Lansing; President of the Inner City Pastors Alliance of Greater Lansing; Chairman and organizer of the Seven Block development program for the City of Lansing; founder and Chairman of GLADE, now known as ACTION of Greater Lansing, an interdenominational justice ministry of churches. Currently, Pastor Jones serves as President of the Clergy Forum of Greater Lansing and vicinity and a member of the Mayor’s Financial Health Team.

Prior to moving to Lansing, he served as President of the Cincinnati Branch NAACP; Vice President of the Cincinnati Health Dept; Secretary, Ohio Association of Boards of Health; Chairman of school consolidations, Cincinnati Board of Education; Hamilton County Coordinator, Governor Richard F. Celeste; District Coordinator for CASE (Citizens Active to Save Education); Trustee of CASE (Citizens Active to Support Education);  Founder and Chairman of the Board, Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary Academy;  President and Co-Founder of EPIC(Elderly People in Community);  President, West End School Inquiry Committee;  Vice Chairman of the Coalition of Principals and Parents, West End;   President, Inter-Faith Mission on Hunger; Member, Desegregation  Task Force,  Cincinnati Public Schools.

Dr. Jones has received many distinguished awards and citations during his career: Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges; Outstanding Service Award, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.; National Postal Workers Community Service Award.

 

Andrea Marmurek Fleri is a 14 year veteran teacher within the Miami-Dade County Public Schools District. Her first seven years were at Naranja Elementary School and the last seven have been at Homestead Middle School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Florida International University and is certified by the Florida Department of Education in Reading/Language Arts, Elementary Education, Early Childhood, and Clinical Supervision.

In addition, Mrs. Fleri has been recognized professionally as Teacher of the Year, Homestead/Florida City Chamber of Commerce Regional Teacher of the Quarter, Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Leadership Award, Classroom Character Education Quality Award, Learning for Life Leadership Award, and the Do the Right Thing Coordinator of the Year. She holds a strong passion for education and works feverishly to ensure all students have an opportunity to learn and be successful.

 

Kevin Williams is the President and CEO of Circadian Solutions Group, Inc. In 2003, he started a company that creates business solutions for small to medium businesses, builds customized servers, workstations and laptops. Additionally, he writes custom software solutions, repairs/upgrades computers and consults individuals and small businesses on the purchasing and setup for their IT needs.

Mr. Williams is very accomplished and is a Registered:  iPhone Developer,  Motorola Developer, Samsung Developer,  LG Developer, Blackberry Developer, Nokia Developer, Sun Developer and Appcelarator Developer.

He worked as an IT Manager for College Crib in Nashville, Tennessee and as a Quality Assurance Supervisor for Dell Computer Corporation in Texas and Tennessee. He is a CompTIA certified A+ Technician, CompTIA certified Network+ Technician and a VMware Certified Professional.

He is knowledgeable in the Basics of Supply Chain Management, Global Diversity Training, Dell Process Improvement – Yellow Belt training (Six Sigma), Dell Process Improvement – Green Belt training (Six Sigma), 5S Training, Visual Basic 6,Visual Interdev, HTML, Javascript, Microsoft Office, Kronos

Mr. Williams is also a member of the ASQ (American Society of Quality), APICS (The Educational Society of Resource Management),Intel Channel Partner, Western Digital Select Partner, Seagate and Maxtor Channel Partner, VMware Channel Partner, Cisco Channel Partner and CompTIA member.

 

Jacquelyn Thomas is the current Executive Director and founder of Kids-NTechnology, Inc. the first non profit technology summer camp and the third largest in the United States. Kids N Technology, is now a Texas based 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organizations, headquartered in Austin.

Currently, under Jacquelyn’s leadership, Kids-N-Technology provides the opportunity for several hundred underprivileged and underserved youth, as young as 8 years old, to build their own computer and take it home! Additionally, over 400 Pre-k thru 5th graders, explore innovative, hands-on Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) projects daily, in a safe Out of School Time (OST) environment.

Under the direction of the Board of Directors, Jacquelyn determines the mission and purpose of KNT. She is responsible for leading and inspiring all aspects of the organization, including planning, budgeting, programming, financial reporting, resource management, human resources, fundraising, grant writing, social enterprise, public relations and special events.

Under Jacquelyn’s leadership, KNT has created and implements over 15 sustainable model STEM programs. Jacquelyn also serves on the Board of Advisors of Southwest Careers and Technology High School, member of Network of Memphis, Memphis Entrepreneurs Group and Memphis Cares Mentoring. Kai Dupé is an entrepreneur, highly sought after speaker, technical blog writer, radio show host and Software Engineer. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science and Business Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio. Kai mentors several young people in many cities in Texas including students involved with the Next Young Phenom Foundation Group Mentoring Days.

He has 20+ years of programming experience and has developed software for: American Airlines, Citicorp, New Energy Ventures, Homecomings Financial, Vought Aircraft Industries, Texas Windstorm, Texas Department of Health, Experian and IGW Software in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles.

Additionally, Mr. Dupé has served as instructor for Kaplan University and Heald College. He is a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT), Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD) as well as the Chair of the BiTWiSE Advisory Board. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate Degree and has written for The Atlanta Post.

Just recently as a NYP Board Member, he traveled 3 hours to spend an entire day (twice)  mentoring boys and girls and encouraging them to consider the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math careers. A masterful story teller, most young  people leave the event wanting “to do what Mr. Kai does.”
